“When Your Faith Is Tested”

by Dona Hake

“My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can! For you know that when your faith is tested it stirs up power within you to endure all things. And then as your endurance grows even stronger it will release perfection into every part of your being until there is nothing missing and nothing lacking.” James 1:2-4 The Passion Translation

I love how John Mason addresses the trials of this life…

“You are like a teabag… not worth much till you’ve been through some hot water.”

One thing for sure, we must be resolute in doing the will of our Lord. No matter what comes against us, we MUST press in! In Psalm 37:23, 24 it says “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighted in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholds him with his hand.“

As we run the race set before us and purpose to please our Lord we can believe that even mistakes and failures can be steppingstones in learning, and they will cause us to gain godly wisdom. Paul said we are more than conquerors, and we well know that to be a conqueror there must be a battle. Thank God that in any battle we can be overcomers as we keep our eyes fixed on Him, and dare to do great works for our Lord. Let us never fear failure, or making mistakes in our attempt to try.

Theodore Roosevelt said this, “Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the great twilight that knows not victory or defeat.“

Let us run life’s race with passion and determination no matter what may dare to hinder us for the path has been already marked out before us!
