“Quick to Listen, Slow To Speak, Slow To Anger”

Did you ever have a time that someone was speaking to you, and you thought you were listening but you had other things on your mind? You find out real quick if you failed to hear something important. Not listening closely to special instructions can get us in trouble if you know what I mean. 🙂   God desires us to be thoughtful and courteous people. He also desires that we listen carefully and be very attentive to His Word.

This week we are going to look at how we handle the  words we hear, The Word we hear,  what words we speak, and the speed of how we react to things. How we react to what we have heard can make or break a situation. God has a standard of behavior for us to live by as we represent Him here on the earth. I encourage you to read and meditate the scriptures I am sharing with you today, and I look forward to us meditating upon this together.

“Understand this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Let everyone be quick to hear [be a careful, thoughtful listener], slow to speak [a speaker of carefully chosen words and], slow to anger [patient, reflective, forgiving]; for the [resentful, deep-seated] anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God [that standard of behavior which He requires from us]. So get rid of all uncleanness and all that remains of wickedness, and with a humble spirit receive the word [of God] which is implanted [actually rooted in your heart], which is able to save your souls. But prove yourselves doers of the word [actively and continually obeying God’s precepts], and not merely listeners [who hear the word but fail to internalize its meaning], deluding yourselves [by unsound reasoning contrary to the truth].” James 1:19-22 AMP

“So this is why we abandon everything morally impure and all forms of wicked conduct. Instead, with a sensitive spirit we absorb God’s Word, which has been implanted within our nature, for the Word of Life has power to continually deliver us.”
James 1:21 – TPT
